1947 Jackie Robinson on the Day that Jackie Signed with the Dodgers

An Important, Vintage 1947 Original Photograph depicting Jackie Robinson as a member of the Montreal Royals, the Brooklyn Dodgers Minor League club in his 1st appearance at Ebbets Field during an exhibition game. The Dodgers would pick up Jackie's contract and officially promote him to the big leagues at the end of the day. This RARE photo was taken five days before his Major League Debut on April 10, 1947 in which Robinson would make history and become the 1st Black ballplayer to enter the Majors. Robinson would trade his Montreal flannel for Brooklyn Dodger blues which paved a path for a new era in baseball history that would forever change the face of not just baseball, but the entire nation.

Original press stamp is on the reverse of this fine TYPE I photo as well as a caption with an April 11, 1947 issue date from Acme Newspictures. It features a beautiful "action" shot of the new face being seen by fans in Brooklyn for the very 1st time ! This is a standout Jackie Robinson photograph and one of the very 1st taken during that historic season of 1947.
