Circa 1932 PRE-ROOKIE Signature of JOE DIMAGGIO while on SF Seals

ORIGINATED from a 1932 album in REA in 2008:
1) 1932 Autograph Book. This small, leather-bound autograph album, titled “Class Autographs” on the cover, features what is certainly one of the earliest Joe DiMaggio signatures in existence. DiMaggio’s signature, scripted “J. DiMaggio” in pencil (grading “9”), appears alone on a page, below which is the written notation (not in DiMaggio’s hand), “Right Fielder – Seals Team.” A small newspaper cutout of DiMaggio’s head is also affixed to the page. All of the remaining autographs in the book, with the exception of a Seals coach, appear to be school-related (classmates, teachers, etc.). A great majority of the signatures are dated “1932,” which makes it likely that DiMaggio signed the book in the summer of 1932. DiMaggio joined the Seals at the age of seventeen in 1932, but he only appeared in a few games with the club. The following year he established himself as the Pacific Coast League’s top player, batting .340 with 28 home runs and a League-leading 169 RBI. He also hit safely in sixty-one consecutive games, foreshadowing his Major League streak in 1941. The album measures 6.25 x 4.5 inches and is in Excellent to Mint condition.
