2012 Topps Baseball Factory Sets Preview

by Chris Harris

Topps doesn’t produce dozens of different versions of their annual factory set, it only seems that way.  Each of the last two years, Topps has made seven different factory sets, with different runs for Hobby, retail, and regional outlets –and each with their own exclusive pack of inserts.

The first wave of 2012 Topps Baseball factory sets will be appearing at Hobby outlets the week of July 16th with the “Team” editions to follow right behind.  Although Topps has yet to announce which teams will get their own factory set (since the All-Star Game is in Kansas City this year, you can be assured that the Royals will finally get one), the nationally-distributed Hobby set will come with another pack of five exclusive base set parallels.

With the Red-bordered parallels now exclusive to Target packs, the five factory set parallels will come framed with Orange borders.  Once again, the parallels will be serial-numbered with production dependent on the number of sets ordered – but should be in the 250-300 copy range.

Each 2012 Topps Factory set hobby case will come with a dozen of sets, with an extra set in each HTA case.   Click here to check out Topps factory sets from various years on eBay.
